Vatín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The oldest written mention of Vatín known to date comes from 1353. The history of the village also includes four devastating fires that affected Vatín in the 1880s. The Štursa family originally came from Vatín; among its members was the academic sculptor Jan Štursa (1880–1925).

History and Culture

In the southern part of Vatín, the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows stands by a pond. It was built between 1888 and 1891 and consecrated in 1890. The chapel and the adjoining village square with its pond were reconstructed in 1989. The Návesník fire-water reservoir is located directly next to the chapel.

Landscape

In the Vatín area, Road I/37 forms the southern boundary of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. Vatín has numerous ponds with wetland shore areas, as well as wet meadows where peatland species are frequently found.

Pilgrimage and Cycling Route

The one-day walking pilgrimage from Sirákov to Slavkovice passed through Vatín on 25 July 2025. The 56 km gravel bike route “Gravel kolem hvězdy Vysočiny” follows farm tracks through Vatín to the Vetelské rybníky ponds.
