Sázava is surrounded by the landscape of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area.

Landscape

The Rosička and Světka mountains are located in the vicinity of Sázava. The Blažkov and Žákova hora mountains are also located in the area around Sázava.

In the wider regional surroundings of Sázava lies Smetanovy sady, a named park.

Trails

The Posázavská cycling route runs above the river and along the embankment of a former railway line to Sázava.

The Přibyslav–Sázava cycle path opened in 2011, is more than 9 kilometres long, and runs along the track bed of a disused railway line. It is suitable for cycling and inline skating. At both ends – in Sázava and Přibyslav – it connects to local cycle paths.

Culture and History

In Sázava, the Chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is shaped like a biblical ark and features a 15-metre-high metal cross.

Pekelský mlýn stands on the left bank of the Sázava River on the edge of Sázava, on the road to Velká Losenice. A hammer mill is mentioned at the site of Pekelský mlýn from the mid-14th century onward.
