Culture and history

In the western part of Pošná, the Kostel sv. Bartoloměje church stands on a hill above the Návesní rybník pond. It dates from the second half of the 13th century and is a largely preserved single-nave Late Romanesque building that underwent significant alterations during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. In 1680, the church was remodelled in the Baroque style. Inside, there are valuable Gothic wall paintings from the 14th century. Its cemetery grounds are surrounded by an enclosing wall that is only partially constructed.

In the Proseč district of Pošná stands a Baroque château from the 18th century. It was originally built as a Renaissance fortress with two side rondels. The château is surrounded by a landscaped park enclosed by a picket fence with pillars.

On the village green, Pošná has a small rustic chapel from the 19th century. It has a square floor plan with slightly bevelled corners and a hipped roof with a four-sided lantern on the ridge. In front of the entrance, at a location visible from afar, stands a stone memorial crucifix dating from 1884. On the eastern edge of Pošná, on the road to Zahrádka, there is a stone wayside shrine in a Late Gothic style. It bears the carved year 1609.

Landscape and structures

The monumental railway viaduct in Pošná was built around 1888 on the Horní Cerekev–Tábor railway line. It crosses the deep valley of the Novodvorský stream in a gentle curve. Eleven arches rest on four-sided conical pillars; the viaduct is built of rubble stone.
