Malčín was first mentioned in written records in 1358 and at that time belonged to Vilémov Monastery.

History and Remembrance

Malčín was built on the edge of a large border forest that separated Bohemia from Moravia until the 14th century. The war memorial in Malčín bears the names of the inhabitants who fell for their country in the World War.

Glassmaking Tradition and Trails

The historic Hoglova huť glassworks was located in Dobrá Voda near Malčín and was founded in 1723 by J. J. Hogle. Clear glass and non-decolorized so-called forest glass were produced there, including cups, goblets, small bottles, and beer and wine glasses.

The route “From the château in Světlá via Dobrá Voda to Josefodol” passes through Malčín after Žižkova studánka. Behind Malčín, this route continues along an unmarked path to Vlčkův mlýn.

Žižkova studánka

Žižkova studánka is located approximately 450 meters north of Dobrá Voda, a settlement within the municipality of Malčín, on a marked forest path with yellow hiking trail markings. According to a local legend, Jan Žižka stopped at Žižkova studánka while being pursued by King Sigismund.
