Dolni Krupa: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dolní Krupá represents an unusual combination of religious buildings, castle history, and archaeological traces.

Culture

The Church of St. Vitus, “kostel sv. Víta,” in Dolní Krupá is protected as a cultural monument. The church grounds also include the unusual funerary chapel of St. Michael.

The church visitor center offers information materials, a place to rest, and toilets with a washroom.

The cemetery chapel was completed in 1898 and consecrated in honor of the Holy Cross of Jesus. Its altar was made by the sons of Petr Bůšek from Sychov.

History

Zámek Dolní Krupá Castle was converted from an older fortress by Jan Mencel z Bernfelsu sometime after 1651. The castle hall features the ceiling fresco “Homage of the Nations to Empress Maria Theresa.”

Zámek Dolní Krupá Castle houses a local history museum that primarily displays archaeological finds from the nearby Ronovec Castle ruins. The local history museum in Dolní Krupá opened in 1957 after Josef Čapek found a ceramic fragment from a 13th-century vessel near the now-protected spruce below Ronovec.

Ronovec

Ronovec is a former early Gothic castle and is now a castle ruin located between Dolní Krupá, Břevnice, and Kojetín.

Parts of the residential palace, defensive walls, and a watchtower, as well as fragments of a former well and parts of a nearby mill, have survived at Ronovec Castle ruins. The castle ruins can be accessed via a yellow-marked hiking trail.
