Ovesná Lhota: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ovesná Lhota is situated on a high plateau of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands near Světlá nad Sázavou. In the village center and its immediate surroundings, landscape features are combined with small memorial sites.

Culture and Local History

The municipal chapel of Ovesná Lhota was built in 1938 and consecrated on July 24 by František Štulpa from Smrdov. The U Božích muk cross commemorates the soldiers who fell in the Hussite Wars. Another cross in front of the school commemorates the abolition of the corvée obligation; the two lime trees beside it were planted in 1910.

The Ovesná Lhota war memorial was unveiled on May 12, 1946, and stands in the village center near the chapel. Four lime trees were planted around the soldiers’ mass grave in 1919.

The surroundings of Ovesná Lhota include Ostojovka [Ledeč nad Sázavou-Souboř], a mountain, and Melechov, a mountain. The immediate surroundings also include Homole [Sázavka], a hill, and Mezi Lesy [Světlá nad Sázavou-Benetice], a hill.

The wider regional surroundings include Orlík, a ruin, Želivský Kláštor, a monastery, and Kačina Castle, a château.

Hiking Trails

In 2016, the historic hiking trail “In the Footsteps of Josef Toufar” passed through Ovesná Lhota, then continued along a dirt track towards Kynice and through the forest below Borovina. Also in 2016, the 11-kilometer hiking route “By Any Path” passed through Ovesná Lhota to Sázavka railway station.
