Kámen U Pacova: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Kámen U Pacova is home to Hrad Kámen, an originally Gothic castle. It was founded at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries and named after the distinctive rocky outcrop on which it was built.

Culture

As a Hussite stronghold between Tábor and Pelhřimov, Hrad Kámen played an important role. Today, the exhibition of historic motorcycles at Hrad Kámen is one of the oldest specialised motorcycle exhibitions in the Czech Republic. The current collection includes a 1910 touring motorcycle. Three guided tours are open to visitors: the Old Palace, Life in the 19th and Early 20th Centuries, and Motorcycles.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows is one of the most significant Baroque ecclesiastical buildings in the Pelhřimov area. Its interior has preserved an exceptionally valuable collection of Early Baroque furnishings. The chapel was intended primarily to serve as the representative family crypt of the Malovec family.

Nature

The park at Hrad Kámen is open throughout the entire season and freely accessible to the public. It includes an alpine garden established on the castle’s rocky massif. The grounds of Hrad Kámen are also home to a Nootka cypress (Chamaecyparis nootkatensis) and a copper beech (Fagus sylvatica f. purpurea), which were designated memorial trees in 2001.

The so-called Lípa v lípě in Kámen is a lime tree growing within the remains of its original mother lime tree; the tree stands below the castle grounds in the centre of the village.

Trails

The red-marked hiking trail from Pacov to Hrad Kámen connects Pacov railway station with Hrad Kámen and passes through sections of forest and open landscape. Cycle Route 321 runs through Kámen on its route between Kamenice nad Lipou and Mezilesí.
