Borovná is located 5 km southwest of Telč at the foot of Zdeňkov Hill. The character of the village is reflected in the landscape around U Borovné, in its history, and in the paths connecting Borovná with Telč and Dobrá Voda.
Nature
U Borovné is a Natura 2000 site of Community importance covering an area of 18.1995 hectares. U Borovné protects a significant population of fire-bellied toads in a high-quality complex of ponds and wetlands. The protected U Borovné locality includes reed beds, wet meadows, wet willow scrub, and pond habitats.
The pond landscape near Borovná provides a habitat for around two dozen endangered bird species. They breed there, search for food, or rest during migration; they include osprey, kingfisher, and black stork.
Culture and history
Borovná was first mentioned in written records in the mid-14th century. In 1721, the village became permanently associated with Telč. The new chapel in Borovná was consecrated to the Visitation of the Virgin Mary on 9 September 2001.
Routes and trails
The Lipky nature trail is an approximately 5 km-long route with ten stops, including the Borovná Forest Society. Cycle Route 5261 leads from Dobrá Voda to Borovná and then continues on to Telč.
At Holiday Home No. 15 in Borovná, the Koryto self-service bar offers refreshments from spring to autumn. A 17 km-long route from Telč leads via Stará Borovná and Borovná, as well as other places, back to Telč.
