Krahulčí: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Krahulčí combines a pilgrimage church with marked cycling and hiking trails as well as named landscape and cultural sites. The village is home to the Church of St. John of Nepomuk, which was built as a pilgrimage church from 1726 to 1728. It was the first church in the Czech lands to be dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk.

Culture and history

The Church of St. John of Nepomuk has a single-nave main body, a semicircular apse and a façade with two slender towers. The local history also includes the “Pomník Obětem 2. světové války” memorial. It includes an area with urns containing the ashes of four citizens from Telč who were executed in 1944 at the Brandenburg concentration camp. Their urns were found after the war.

Trails and cycling routes

Cycling route 1113 Jindřichův Hradec–Telč runs through Krahulčí. Another connection is cycling route 5124 Javořice–Knínice, which is one of the marked cycling trails in the Telčsko region.

Two marked hiking trails are also connected with Krahulčí: the yellow hiking trail from Dobrá Voda to Krahulčí is 3 kilometres long. The hiking trail from Krahulčí to Telč runs for approximately 1.5 kilometres to Telč.

Landscape and surroundings

West of Krahulčí, beside a field path about 100 metres south of the road to Telč, stands a large-leaved lime tree (Tilia platyphylla).

The mountains Štamberk, Řásenský vrch and Mrhatina are located in the immediate surroundings of Krahulčí. Široký kámen mountain is located in the vicinity of Krahulčí. Also in the vicinity are Roštejn Castle, the Janštejn ruins and the U Svatého Křiže Church. Landštejn Castle lies in the wider regional surroundings of Krahulčí.
