Čachotín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the village square of Čachotín, the original village architecture with the centrally located Church of St. Lawrence has been preserved. The church is considered Čachotín’s most important monument. Its Baroque form with vernacular elements stands on Gothic foundations; it contains a tomb of the Freiherren Bechyně von Lažany dating from 1833. Together with the bell tower, the church was declared a cultural monument by the state in 1964.

Culture

To the east of the church stands a free-standing, multi-storey bell tower. It was built around the middle of the 19th century in the Neo-Romanesque style and has a pyramidal roof with a dormer window for the clock.

Landscape

At 595 metres above sea level, Mount Remonštangle is the highest point in Čachotín. The Orlík ruins are located in the wider regional area. Mount Vysoká is situated in the vicinity of Čachotín; the nearby area includes the hill “(Čachotín [Chotěboř])”, the hill “Lysá [Horní Krupá u Havlíčkova Brodu]” and the hill “Lysá N [Horní Krupá u Havlíčkova Brodu]”.

The memorial tree “Buk v Boučí” is part of the natural heritage. It was first designated as a memorial tree on 1 January 1989 and is designated as a protected memorial tree. Its age is estimated at 350 years; its trunk circumference is 7.1 metres.

Events and Trails

The traditional Vavřinecká pouť pilgrimage festival in Čachotín takes place on the second Sunday in August. It includes entertainment on an outdoor dance floor. A green-marked hiking trail also runs between Zálesí and Lysá via the memorial site with the protected tree “Buk v Boučí”.
