Sedletín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Sedletín combines protected wetlands, tranquil bodies of water, birdwatching opportunities and a local history dating back to the end of the 14th century. Between the nature trail, the menhir and summer dance events, visitors gain very different insights into the village and its immediate surroundings.

Nature

The Havranka Nature Reserve extends across the cadastral areas of Jiříkov u Kamene and Sedletín. It protects a complex of wet meadows, tall-sedge vegetation and wet marsh marigold or thistle meadows. Another landscape feature is the Sedletínská jezírka ponds: this is the site leased by OK Vysočina for the longest period; water irises bloom there.

The Jilemský potok stream connects four ponds as it flows through Sedletín. Several different aquatic and wetland habitats therefore lie alongside one another within the village area, each deriving its distinctive character from its specific form.

Things to Do

A section of cycle route 4153 was opened in 2002 in the northern part of Sedletín’s cadastral area. For observations on foot, there is the Ornithological Observation Trail, which is fully accessible along its 3 km length.

Along the Ornithological Observation Trail, visitors can observe six additional duck species over the course of the year alongside the most common mallard. Great crested grebes also occur regularly near the trail and breed there.

Culture and History

In the vicinity of Sedletín, near the road from Habry to Chotěboř, stands the four-metre-high menhir u Sedletína, also called Vysoký Kámen, set into the ground. The menhir was erected in 2002 by the Vysočina Nature Conservation Association.

Sedletín was probably established at the end of the 14th century at a turn-off from the Liběcká Road to the Habrská Road. The village’s historical development is therefore closely connected with the former transport routes in its surroundings.

Village Life

The local events calendar includes “Sedletínské kulturní léto”, a series of dance events held on the summer dance floor in the centre of Sedletín. In connection with the Ornithological Observation Trail, OK Vysočina also organises “Vítání ptačího zpěvu” every year around the turn of April and May.
