Přibyslav: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Gothic tower of Přibyslav combines impressive architectural history with a clear historical connection: construction began in 1497 after the original tower was severely damaged during the siege by the Hussites. Its massive walls indicate that it was built as a defensive tower. The Gothic tower is regularly open to visitors from the beginning of July to the end of August. Přibyslav Castle is also protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Culture and history

The foundation stone of the Church of the Nativity of St John the Baptist in Přibyslav was laid on 1 April 1750. It was completed three years later and ceremonially consecrated on 24 July 1753. Outside church services, the parish church is open to the public by prior arrangement.

Under the parish church lies Štola pod farou, a medieval tunnel in Přibyslav. It is approximately 80 metres long; including its branches, it reaches around 118 metres. Štola pod farou is accessible exclusively during the Přibyslav festivities in September.

The idea of establishing the Městské muzeum Přibyslav emerged towards the end of the 19th century. Around 1,200 objects were collected for the early collection in a relatively short period, including traditional costumes, work tools, weapons, ceramic vessels, coins, old books and other documents. Since 2005, the town museum and the tourist information centre have been located in the Starý ženský špitál Přibyslav.

The Hasičské muzeum Přibyslav includes a hall for international cooperation between CTIF countries, featuring firefighting uniforms from various countries. The regional exhibition Přibyslavsko, also known as Žižkova síň, presents archaeology, replicas of Hussite weapons, traditional costumes and everyday objects. In addition, the museum displays a permanent exhibition on the history of fire protection in 15 halls, covering early firefighting methods, the development of volunteer fire brigades since the mid-19th century, the development of firefighting uniforms, and historical and modern equipment.

Trails and cycle routes

Přibyslav railway station is located on railway line No. 250 between Brno and Havlíčkův Brod. The Česko-Moravská cycle route No. 16 runs through Přibyslav.

The Přibyslav–Sázava cycle path begins directly at Přibyslav railway station and follows a former railway line. It is nine kilometres long and has no significant climbs. The K.-H.-Borovský Trail is one of the well-marked hiking trails in the area around Přibyslav. The Cyril and Methodius Route can be completed on foot or by bicycle in stages.
