Víska: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Víska lies in the foothills of the Železné hory and in the Doubrava Valley. The village is located on the road between Nová Ves u Chotěboře and Maleč; cycle route No. 1 also passes through Víska.

Nature

The Novoveský Stream flows through the built-up area of Víska from west to east. It is a left-bank tributary of the Doubrava. At the eastern edge of Víska, the Blatnický Stream flows into the Doubrava from the right.

In the vicinity of Víska, an educational trail runs through the entire valley of the Údolí Doubravy nature reserve. The 452-metre-high Rouzeň hill lies southwest of the village and can be reached on foot. The hill is home to abandoned marl quarries.

The Společný Pond is described as the most important of the several ponds near Víska.

Culture and Remembrance

Víska’s war memorial stands in the square in front of the municipal office. The lower plaque of the memorial commemorates those who fell in the Second World War from 1939 to 1945.

A stone cross from 1879 has been preserved in Víska. It is located in a small park in front of the municipal office. A memorial to those who fell in the First and Second World Wars stands near the stone cross.

The school building in Víska is adorned with a statue of Jan Amos Comenius. František Šumpich, born in 1913 in Víska u Chotěboře, is among the victims whose names are commemorated on war memorials in their respective home towns, including Víska.
