Vilémovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Stvořidla Nature Reserve and Vilémovice Chateau give the village two clearly distinctive aspects: a river landscape in the deep Sázava valley and a historic architectural monument. These are complemented by a short educational trail, well-preserved local traditions and several smaller reminders of the village’s history.
Nature
The Stvořidla Nature Reserve, which includes part of Vilémovice, features a boulder-strewn riverbed with numerous rapids in the deep Sázava valley. The protected area also extends across the cadastral territory of Vilémovice and offers opportunities for hiking. Among other species, the protected white-throated dipper lives in this nature reserve.
The village’s natural heritage also includes a remarkable yew tree in the park of Vilémovice Chateau. Its trunk circumference is 310 centimetres. On 16 September 1976, the yew was designated a memorial tree.
Experiences and Trails
A 1.4-kilometre educational trail continues to Vilémovice and features twelve information stations. The educational trail includes the game „13 Eagle Feathers“, in which various tasks testing dexterity and reasoning are solved at each station.
A named route also starts in Vilémovice: the „Around Ledeč nad Sázavou“ route leads westwards from Vilémovice along a path to the Vilémovice railway stop.
History and Culture
Vilémovice Chateau is a Baroque chateau remodelled in the Classical style and a valuable example of a small rural aristocratic residence. Ignác Bechyně z Lažan had it built between 1743 and 1746 on the site of a manor house. The chateau burned down completely in 1825 and was subsequently rebuilt in the contemporary Classical style of the time. It currently serves cultural purposes for the municipality.
Local traditions are maintained in Vilémovice, including a carnival procession as well as pilgrimage and parish-fair celebrations. West of Vilémovice, beside a path through the fields, stands a late Baroque chapel that probably dates from 1727.
Villagescape
A bell tower stands in the centre of Vilémovice next to the outdoor swimming pool. Vilémovice is also home to a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1864.
