Landscape

Úpohlavy is located in the landscape of the České středohoří Highlands. There is a railway stop in the northern part of the municipality. Házmburk, a castle ruin on a 418 m-high volcanic cone, is located near Úpohlavy. Házmburk offers views of the České středohoří Highlands, the Polabí region and the Poohří region. The southern slopes of Košťálov Hill are protected as a natural monument.

The Úpohlavy quarry is designated as a geotourism attraction, or geotope, and as an excursion site. It is significant for its palaeontological discoveries from the Upper Cretaceous. Access to the Úpohlavy quarry is possible only with special permission, as the site includes a military area, a quarry and private property.

Trails

Úpohlavy is considered a starting point for walks and hikes. The red-marked Zlatá stezka Zemí hradů hiking trail runs through the southwestern part of Úpohlavy. From Úpohlavy, a route of approximately 4–5 km leads to Házmburk and can be travelled on foot or by bicycle. Košťálov is approximately 6 km from Úpohlavy on foot or by bicycle; the climb to Košťálov is described as moderately difficult, with the final section being steeper.

There is also an approximately 2 km route from Úpohlavy to Lucký mlýn. The trip to Lucký mlýn is described as an easy walk. The municipality of Úpohlavy recommends an approximately 30 km circular route via Úpohlavy, Házmburk, Třebenice, Košťálov, Chodovlice and Lucký mlýn, returning to Úpohlavy.

Cycling

The Lovosice–Házmburk–Lovosice cycling route runs through Úpohlavy. It is approximately 50 km long and moderately difficult. Cycling route 3118 runs through Úpohlavy between Sulejovice and Třebenice. In the Český granát region, cycling route 3118 leads from Lovosice via Sulejovice and Úpohlavy to Třebenice.

Cycling routes 3119 and 3118 form a regional return route via Lkáň, Třebenice, Úpohlavy and Sulejovice to Lovosice.

Culture

Lucký mlýn, a former water mill, lies between the municipalities of Chodovlice and Úpohlavy. The Baroque building preserves technical equipment dating largely from the early 20th century.

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Úpohlavy is a late Baroque immovable cultural monument of the Czech Republic, protected since 1958 and designated as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Its triangular gable transitions directly into a bell tower.
