Doksany Monastery was founded in 1144–1145 as a Premonstratensian convent.

Culture

A tour includes a visit to the Basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and the Romanesque western part of the original medieval basilica. At Doksany Monastery, parking is available in front of the main gate or in the first courtyard outside the lawn area.

Architecture

In the grounds of Doksany Monastery, visitors can see the so-called Romanesque “crypt”. The original Romanesque basilica in Doksany retains a crypt with 47 columns and an apse. Under Joseph II, the monastery was dissolved in 1782; Terezie Poniatowská had the prelature converted into a château.
