Kleneč: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Kleneč, the Bohemian sand pink (Dianthus arenarius subsp. bohemicus) occurs naturally worldwide only in the Kleneč National Nature Monument. The area is designated as a National Nature Monument and protects continental sand dune grasslands, sandy grasslands, dry lowland and upland heaths, and a soil-acid oak forest on sand.

Nature

The National Nature Monument is also home to other rare plants and invertebrates associated with sandy soils. The Bohemian sand pink is protected and must not be picked. The Kleneč National Nature Monument is designated as a destination for cycling and tourism. To the east of Kleneč lie the Karfilát slopes, which are a National Nature Monument.

Location

Kleneč lies in a valley on the Čepel stream, west of Říp Mountain and south of Roudnice nad Labem. The village buildings are located on both sides of the Čepel stream along the district road to Roudnice. Kleneč can be reached by both train and bus.

History and Village Appearance

Kleneč has been mentioned in written records since around 1530. In 1923, a monument to those who fell and died in the war was erected in the middle of the village square. Kleneč also includes two smaller ponds and two remote mills: Lagroun to the north and Lorencův to the south.

Events and Traditions

On 27 October 2024, the traditional Strašidlácký pochod event took place in Kleneč. SDH Kleneč held Masopust on 27 January 2024. Myslivecký ples takes place in Kleneč every year. The Poslední leč in Kleneč, which is open to the public, maintains hunting traditions such as a hunting court and ceremonial appointments as a hunter and gamekeeper.
