Straškov-Vodochody: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Straškov-Vodochody reveals its character through a series of specific places, landscape features and local connections. Culture and history

The Church of St Wenceslas is an important medieval building with a partially preserved Romanesque phase. It was originally a Gothic church from the mid-14th century; in the 18th century, it was remodelled in the Baroque style.

Another historical trace is Straškovský mlýn. The mill is located on the Čepel stream in Straškov-Vodochody and has been preserved in its pre-war form, including the machinery; the water engine is missing.

Water and landscape

The Čepel stream rises in Vodochody. Its main source is located at the northeastern tip of Vodochody and forms a large masonry spring enclosure.

Nature

In the immediate vicinity of Straškov-Vodochody are Vidrholec Mountain, the Church of St George and the Na Hájích hill [Mnetěš].

The surrounding area of Straškov-Vodochody also includes Sovice Mountain and Zámek Ostrov Castle.

In the wider regional area around Straškov-Vodochody are the historic site “Theresienstadt concentration camp and ghetto”, the ruins of Hazmburk and Boušov Mountain.

Activities

The Vodochodský koloběh was held in 2024 and took place for the sixth time in 2025. It includes running, cycling and walking events. These include a special balance-bike race for the youngest children, as well as a category for mothers with prams.
