Sedlec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Sedlec lies at the northern foot of Házmburk Castle, in a hollow formed by volcanic hills. Nearby is the 230-metre-high Malý Planík, which offers views of the Central Bohemian Uplands.

History and Culture

The first surviving written mention of Sedlec dates from 1237. In the second half of the 14th century, the village came into the possession of the Zajíc of Valdek family. Next to the Chapel of the Guardian Angel stands a monument to those who fell in the First World War, erected in 1928. The Chapel of the Guardian Angel was renovated and reconsecrated in the 1990s.

Hiking Trails

A hiking trail runs through the centre of Sedlec from Košťálov Castle via the Lucký Mill to Házmburk Castle and Libochovice Chateau. The Třebenice–Libochovice hiking route is marked red throughout and is 12 km long; it continues through Sedlec to Házmburk Castle. Near Sedlec, you can visit the old Lucký Mill along this route.

Cycling

The Ústí nad Labem–Házmburk–Libochovice hiking route passes through Sedlec and is 47 km long. With the exception of the Bílka–Milešov section, it is also suitable for mountain bikes and trekking bikes. The Lovosice–Házmburk–Lovosice cycling route also passes through Sedlec and is approximately 50 km long.

Getting Around

Near Sedlec, Házmburk Castle can be reached from Libochovice město railway station via an approximately 3.5 km-long path marked red that runs through fields. There is an inn in Sedlec.
