History and Village Character

The first written mention of Žabovřesky nad Ohří dates from 1336. The Budyňské estate was held by the Zajíc of Valdek family until 1613. Later owners of Žabovřesky nad Ohří included the Šternberk, Dietrichstein and Herbstein families; the Dietrichsteins took over the estate from 1676.

A late Baroque chapel without a specific dedication stands in the village square of Žabovřesky nad Ohří. Since 1958, it has been a protected immovable cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The chapel has a mansard roof with a bell tower.

The Simson Museum is located at Na Návsi 8 in Žabovřesky nad Ohří. It displays Simson motorcycles, bicycles and weapons. The collection also includes one of five Simson trial prototypes produced. Visits to the Simson Museum are possible by prior telephone appointment.
