Mlékojedy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mlékojedy lies on the left bank of the Elbe, which separates the village from Litoměřice. The annual St. Martin’s pilgrimage from Mlékojedy takes place in the Church of St. Martin (“Kostel sv. Martina”); since the church reopened a few years ago, the number of participants has been growing every year.

Culture and History

“Kostel sv. Martina” is essentially a Gothic church dating from the 14th century and was mentioned as a parish church in 1384. In 1776, it was rebuilt in its present late Baroque form. The church and rectory in Mlékojedy are listed as an immovable cultural monument in the central register of immovable cultural monuments of the Czech Republic.

Some gravestones have been preserved in the former cemetery north of the church. The cemetery is surrounded by a cast-iron fence with Gothic Revival forms dating from 1885.

Location and Landscape

Mlékojedy is connected to Litoměřice via Road II/247 and the Generál-Chábera Bridge. The Elbe’s watercourse and floodplain axis of the supraregional biocorridor “Stříbrný roh – Polabský luh” runs through the village.

The local “Písečný ostrov” biocentre comprises an island and a cut-off river arm with valuable floodplain communities and entomological significance.

Paths through the Microregion

The educational trail “Naučná stezka skřítka Portáše – Porta Bohemica – Krajem pověstí a zážitků” connects all the municipalities of the microregion, including Mlékojedy. It is 30 km long in total and has 16 stations.

Local Products

The “Hákův parní pivovar” brewery in Mlékojedy produces several types of beer, both top-fermented and bottom-fermented. All of the brewery’s beers carry the “České středohoří regionální produkt” regional product label. The “Hákův parní pivovar” is open on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
