Pohorice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The local history of Pohořice is reflected in several clearly identified traces. Pohořice was formerly also called Podhořice and was first mentioned in 1340 as property of the Augustinian monastery in Roudnice nad Labem. The village is considered to have older origins than Martiněves. The historic Formanská magistrála ran through Pohořice and continued from Prague via Pohořice to Dresden, Leipzig and Berlin.

Historical Traces

A former inn dating from the time of the Formanská magistrála, bearing house number 37, has been preserved in Pohořice. Next to the former inn is an approximately 1.5 m-high remnant of a stone milestone. Another stone milestone stands north of Pohořice, about 1.5 km away. The historic Stará formanská magistrála runs along the edge of Pohořice.

Remembrance

On the village square of Pohořice in Martiněves stands a war memorial commemorating those who fell from Martiněves, Pohořice and Charvatce in the First World War of 1914–1918. The Pohořice war memorial was unveiled on 7 September 1924. It is a four-sided granite monument; the names of the fallen are engraved on three sides.

The mountains Vidrholec, Boušov and Sovice are located in the vicinity of Pohořice. Hazmburk is a ruin site in the vicinity of Pohořice; the Church of Svatý Jiří is also located in the vicinity of Pohořice.
