Landscape and Nature

The cadastral area of Podbořanský Rohozec lies within the Louny District section of the Hradiště Special Area of Conservation. The Doupov Mountains Bird Protection Area serves as a breeding ground for 148 bird species.

Culture and History

The Chapel of St. Notburga in Podbořanský Rohozec is a filial church of the Nepomyšl parish; regular services are not held in the chapel. Its façade is decorated with statues of Saint Notburga, Saint Procopius and Saint Isidore.

About 1 km southwest of Podbořanský Rohozec, near the Střelnice forester's lodge, lies the circular fortification of Budiš, also known as Rondel. The fortification presumably fell during the invasion of a crusader army around 1421. The ruins of Křečov Castle lie hidden in the forest between Podbořanský Rohozec and Nepomyšl. The ruins of a mill with a sawmill have been preserved below Křečov Castle.

The local history also includes the Jewish cemetery in Podbořanský Rohozec, where around 90 gravestones have been preserved.

National Cycle Route No. 35 passes through Podbořanský Rohozec on its 125 km route between Plzeň and Měděnec.
