Lubenec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Lubenec, the educational trail Naučná stezka okolím Lubence leads through the picturesque landscape of the Lubenec region. On nine information panels, it provides visitors with information about local history, geology, and native wildlife and plant life.

Nature and Landscape

Ruský kopec lies southeast of Lubenec and is a registered significant landscape feature and a botanically valuable area. Liščí skály, located approximately two kilometres southeast of Lubenec, are granite rock formations with original vegetation. In the Liščí skály climbing area above Lubenec, the routes are equipped with bolts as needed and marked with arrows; the Lubenecký pilíř is also located there.

Culture and History

Lubenec was first mentioned as a small town in 1415 and was again described as a small town in 1579. The pseudo-Gothic Church of St Lawrence in Lubenec was built in 1846 on the site of an older Gothic structure. In front of the church, a Baroque statue of Saint Sebastian dating from 1733 stands on a high pedestal. In Lubenec village square, a sculpture of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1745 stands on a new pedestal. The cemetery contains a 19th-century wooden cross with a painted metal corpus.

In the Libyně district near Lubenec, the Vitrážové muzeum displays copies of stained-glass windows from the Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance periods, as well as from the 19th century. Guided tours are offered at the Vitrážnická dílna, where a guide explains the production of stained-glass windows and the finishing of glass.

Activities and Orientation

The Okruh kolem Lubence is a 67.2-kilometre route of moderate difficulty for road bikes and trekking bikes. Lubenecký rybník is connected to an outdoor swimming pool.

Outside the tourist season, keys to the Vochlická rozhledna lookout tower in Lubenec can be borrowed from the stained-glass workshop.
