The first written mention of Nová Ves dates back to 1347.

History and Culture

Nová Ves has a chapel with a bell tower dating from around the 18th century. Near the chapel there is a memorial to local victims of the First World War.

Every year in June, Nová Ves holds a children’s day. In December, the Mikulášská nadílka gift-giving event for children is held every year.

The Zřícenina Pravda ruins are located in the vicinity of Nová Ves.

Several ruins are located in the wider regional surroundings of Nová Ves: Hazmburk, Hrádek and Hradek Oltářík.

Sports and Activities

At the edge of Nová Ves there is the asphalt-surfaced multi-purpose sports field „Víceúčelové hřiště“. The enclosed sports field can be used by prior arrangement; keys and sports equipment can be borrowed from the municipal office.

„Pytlácká pomsta“ refers to a wooden cross in the forest near Nová Ves and is associated with hiking and cycling activities.

Nature and Landscape

The boundary of the Přírodní park Džbán nature park runs through Nová Ves. An unnamed stream also flows through the village; it is a right-bank tributary of the Smolnický potok.

The mountains Pozdeňský les [Mšec], Džbán, Loustín and Oblík are located in the vicinity of Nová Ves.
