Vršovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vršovice lies at the foot of the 303-metre-high Velký vrch. The Velký vrch geological site contains fossils of Cretaceous marine molluscs, some of which have been preserved as pyrite cores.

Nature and Landscape

The Velký vrch–Černodoly Natura 2000 site protects Eurosiberian sessile oak forests as well as semi-natural dry grasslands and scrub formations on calcareous subsoil. At least 175 species of thermophilic fungi have been recorded in the area; it is characterised by rare and endangered communities of thermophilic fungi.

History and Technology

The first written mention of Vršovice dates from 1268. Vršovice Castle dates from the early 17th century, is in poor condition and is not accessible.

Vršovice has a small hydroelectric power plant with a functioning Kaplan turbine. The small hydroelectric power plant was built in 1913 on the site of an old mill.

Community Life and Transport

The municipality of Vršovice organises a New Year's ascent of Velký vrch. Vršovice is served by the municipal bus route from Louny as well as by regional bus routes of the Ústecký kraj.
