Lipá: Holiday apartments and houses

Near the settlement of Lipá lies Lipská hora, a 689 m-high, partly forested phonolite mountain.

Nature and trails

The Lipská hora protected area safeguards scree forests, thermophilous oak forests, as well as the vegetation of rocks and scree slopes. The nature reserve also protects phonolite rocks and scree slopes with a population of bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi). The massive, slabby rocks at the summit provide a habitat for the protected plants bearberry and grey pink.

An unmarked trail branches off to the summit of Lipská hora from the highest point of the red-marked path between Medvědice and Lhota.

History and townscape

Lipá was first mentioned in writing in 1352. The village was divided between the Vchynský family and the owners of nearby Skalka Castle. The two groups of owners jointly exercised the right of patronage over the local church in Lipá.

The layout of Lipá’s village square features a design typical of the period around the transition from the 13th to the 14th century. At an intersection there is a relief pedestal of a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. Lipá cemetery is enclosed by a perimeter wall.

Church of Saint Bartholomew

The Church of Saint Bartholomew in Lipá is a branch church of the Sutom parish. Regular services are not held in the church. The inaccessible church dates from 1363, was originally Gothic, and was remodelled in the Late Baroque style in 1788.

The church complex includes a bell tower with a bell dating from 1576 and Czech inscriptions. The bell is currently kept in a depot.

Getting there

Lipá can be reached via road I/15 from Podsedice or Třebenice, and via road I/8 from Režný Újezd or Velemín. Public transport connections to Lipá from Lovosice operate only on weekdays.
