Prackovice Nad Labem: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Prackovice nad Labem lies on the left bank of the Elbe on the southern slope of Debus. From the banks of the Elbe, the municipality extends into hilly terrain towards basaltic hills and extensive meadows.

Landscape

The landscape, valuable in terms of nature, includes wooded peaks, among them the Elbe breakthrough valley – Porta Bohemica or Litochovické skály –, Kubačka, Debus and Výsluní. It also includes preserved fragments of natural forest as well as continuous open areas with rocky slopes. The municipality comprises riverbanks, hilly terrain and distinctive rock formations.

Culture and history

The Church of St Matthew in Prackovice is first mentioned in 1352 and was probably originally Gothic. Its present appearance was created by a reconstruction in the Empire style around 1800. In the surrounding area, it is a distinctive landmark, especially in long-distance views from the southeast, south and west; the tall tower on the western façade enhances its impact.

Small crosses and wayside shrines stand in the municipality’s fields. In the Litochovice district, there is also a ruined plague column from the 17th century. The Chapel of St John of Nepomuk is located there as well, a Baroque, rectangular rendered building with a rounded end and a striking volute gable with rich stucco decoration on the façade.

Prackovice and Litochovice were historically known for their extensive vineyards and fruit growing.

Things to do

From the railway station in Litochovice nad Labem, a green-marked hiking trail leads over the rocky slope of Porta Bohemica to Malé Žernoseky. A yellow-marked hiking trail runs from the same railway station via roads and local paths to Dobkovičky.

Many sightseeing boats travel through the municipality. At the end of August, the traditional fishing competition “Rybářské závody – Memoriál Václava Jakubíčka” takes place on a meadow by the Elbe in Litochovice nad Labem.

Getting there

The Děčín–Prague railway line runs between the municipality and the Elbe. The ČD stop in Prackovice is about a five-minute walk from the municipal office and the town centre.
