Podsedice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Podsedice are associated with an unusual history of Bohemian garnets: in 1770, a manorial “garnet factory” was established here for cutting and further refining Bohemian garnets. It also produced jewellery, which was sold domestically and exported abroad.

History

The history of the village dates back a long way. Podsedice are mentioned in marginal notes to the founding charter of the Litoměřice Chapter, which historians date to 1057 or 1058. The Podsedice fortress was first mentioned in 1549.

Landscape

Podsedice lie at the south-eastern foot of the České středohoří highlands. The northern part of the area lies within the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area.

Routes

The “Švestková dráha” railway line runs through the Podsedice area. It provides connections to regional centres such as Litoměřice and Most.

The surrounding area also features the marked “Cyklotrasy Českého granátu” cycle route network, with routes 3118, 3119 and 25A between Lovosice, Třebívlice and Libochovice. A short cycling loop starts in Třebenice, follows Route 25A below Košťálov to Teplá and continues to Vlastislav. The Skalka castle ruins and a château are located there.

Culture

Near Třebenice, in the Podsedice area, the ruins of Košťálov Castle are located on the summit of a 481.5 m-high basalt hill. A pavilion housing the Ulrika von Levetzow Museum stands in the château park in Třebívlice. The Oltářík (Hrádek) castle ruins also rise above the village district of Děkovka.

Food and Wine

In Třebívlice, the modern Johann W winery in the Podsedice area offers visits, wine tastings and a restaurant experience by prior arrangement.
