Kamýk: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The ruins of Kamýk Castle date back to the early 14th century. The castle’s main residential and defensive building stood on a basalt rock.

Culture

Less than 1 km northeast of Kamýk stands the pilgrimage chapel dedicated to the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist. The chapel complex, including a fragment of the exterior pulpit, is classified as a cultural monument in the cadastral area of Kamýk u Litoměřic. The area around Kamýk is also home to Střekov Castle, the memorial site of the Theresienstadt concentration camp and ghetto, the ruins of Hrádek and the ruins of Hradek Oltářík.

Nature

Plešivec is a protected natural monument with open scree slopes on its southern and northern sides, as well as permanent ice holes and ventaroles. These are made possible by air circulation in the scree slopes. The nearby surroundings of Kamýk include Hradiště u Hlinné, Deblík and Varhošť mountains. Lovoš is also located in the vicinity of Kamýk.

Hiking and Cycling

The sixth stage of the Výroční stezka trail passes through Kamýk, Porta Bohemica, Velké Žernoseky, Radobýl and Litoměřice. The fifth stage runs via Litýš, Starý Mlýnec, Třebušín, Staňkovice, Ovčárna, Babiny I, Hlinná and Kamýk; it is approximately 24 km long.

Cycle Route 3057 also runs via Litoměřice, Libochovany, Kamýk, Hlinná, Babiny I, Ovčárna, Staňkovice, Myštice, Ploskovice and Žitenice before returning to Litoměřice. It leads from the Elbe into the hills of the Central Bohemian Uplands and climbs to more than 560 metres above sea level. The route to Kamýk Castle from Kamýk is not signposted. The blue-marked hiking trail is called “Zlatá stezka Zemí hradů”.
