Mnetěš: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Mnetěš, a footpath leads to the summit of Říp. On Říp stands the Rotunda of St. George and St. Adalbert, a Christian church that continues to serve its original purpose and is open to interested visitors. The first written mention of the pilgrimage site on Říp dates back to 1126.

Culture and history

A memorial oak stands in front of the school building in Mnetěš. It was planted on 11 October 1924 to mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Jan Žižka of Trocnov. Local schoolchildren planted the memorial oak and were entrusted with its care.

In the immediate vicinity of Mnetěš are Ostrov Château and the Church of St. George. In the wider region around Mnetěš are the historical site “Theresienstadt concentration camp and ghetto” and the ruins of Hazmburk.

Landscape and trails

The Mnetěšská alej in the cadastral area of Mnetěš is 710 m long. The avenue can be used by pedestrians and cyclists. Vidrholec and Sovice are also located in the vicinity of Mnetěš; both are mountains. In the wider region around Mnetěš are the mountains of Hořice and Boušov.

Nature and local life

At the southern edge of Mnetěš is the Naučná stezka mnetěšských rybníčků nature trail. It introduces visitors to the local ponds and their inhabitants.

At the Mnetěš Neckyáda on 9 August 1986, the programme included competitions with various watercraft, a nohejbal tournament for men, and competitions for children.

Geographical location

The Vraňany–Libochovice railway line runs through Mnetěš.
