A completed section of the Elbe Trail, more than 4 kilometres long, runs through Hněvice, a district of Štětí. The route has a branch leading to Hněvice railway station; near Hněvice, the Elbe Trail also reaches the Ústí nad Labem Region.

Routes and Landscape

The Štětí Information Centre offers tourists and visitors guided tours along three circular routes of different lengths. One of them is the Historical Centre of Štětí circular route, which is 2 kilometres long and takes approximately 1.5 hours.

A separate educational trail experience is The Educational Journey of the Robber Štětka, featuring 21 information panels. The first four stations offer interactive games for children and adults.

The landscape also displays a variety of facets. Along the Elbe towards Počeplice stretches a narrow strip of floodplain forest with stands of rushes close to the riverbank, which is considered particularly rich in birdlife. In the Bílé stráně u Štětí area, semi-natural dry grasslands and shrub communities occur on calcareous soil. Špičák offers views of Štětí, the surrounding municipalities and the Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area. There is also a landing pier in the quiet zone of Štětí.

Culture and History

The Church of St Simon and St Jude in Štětí was first documented in 1352. A major flood destroyed it in 1784; it was completely rebuilt as early as 1785. Its interior is decorated with frescoes by the painter Josef Kramolín.

The history of events is also connected with Štětí. The FEDO Festival dates back to 1969 and was held every two years after 1978. The most recent editions included a festival procession through Štětí, an afternoon concert on Husovo náměstí, and a Sunday afternoon concert called Monstrkoncert. Štětská ostrev is an annual historical day featuring an afternoon of folk music in Štětí.
