From Chotiměř, there are views of the surrounding peaks of Kletečná, Kubačka, Lovoš and Milešovka; at the same time, the village is surrounded by orchards, agricultural land and nearby forests.

Landscape and Water

The Chotiměřský potok flows through Chotiměř, joins the Milešovský potok and then flows into the Labe. The nearby Oparenské Valley is approximately 6 km long and stretches from Velemín to Malé Žernoseky. The Milešovský potok flows through the valley; there are also wet meadows and metamorphic and igneous rocks exposed by erosion.

Culture and History

Chotiměř's local cultural heritage includes the Baroque Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from the late 18th century. On Opuce, beside the road from Chotiměř to Velemín, stands a chapel that has been restored to its original form. It was probably built around the middle of the 19th century using an older stone cross that had been erected there in 1759.

The restored Oparenský Mill, also known as Konrad's Mill and Deutschmühle, is considered a centre for environmental education. Above the Oparenské Valley stand the ruins of Oparno Castle, dating from the 13th century.

Festivals and Activities

The T-Mobile Olympic Run has been held in Chotiměř repeatedly; the routes were designed for children and adults and led through the Oparenské Valley. The Chotiměř Masopust was held for the seventh time in 2026, with a procession through the village. The tradition of two festivals in Chotiměř inspired the municipality's present-day flag and coat of arms.

Getting Around

The Oparenský express currently operates on part of the more than 120-year-old Lovosice–Teplice v Čechách railway line, running as far as Chotiměř. The railway line runs near Chotiměř; the walk to the station takes less than ten minutes.
