Vrch Hazmburk consists of a nepheline basanite dyke surrounded by Cretaceous marine marls. At Vrch Hazmburk, there are exposed rock outcrops and scree slopes, as well as steppe and woodland-steppe biotopes.

Hazmburk is a ruin in the immediate vicinity of Klapý. The surrounding area also includes Hrádek and Hradek Oltářík, both ruins. The mountains near Klapý include Košťál, Jezerka, Třešnovka and Kuzov. The historic site “Theresienstadt concentration camp and ghetto” is also located nearby.
