Dolní Habartice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Dolní Habartice is located in the České středohoří landscape region and in the valley of the Bystrá stream. The entire municipality lies on the edge of the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area (CHKO České středohoří).
Nature and Landscape
The settlement stretches across the flat valley floodplain along the Bystrá. The Bystrá stream flows through Dolní Habartice, comes from Horní Habartice and continues to Benešov nad Ploučnicí, where it flows into the Ploučnice. Pastures and agricultural land cover most of Dolní Habartice; forests along the western and eastern cadastral boundaries protect the municipality. In the surrounding area, the landscape consists of fields, meadows and mixed forests.
History
Dolní Habartice was established during the German colonisation of the area around 1281. Until 1945, the settlement was called Nieder Ebersdorf. Jakub Dórfel built a mill near house no. 76. Dórfel’s property formed the core of the Kranach farmsteads; a manor house, no. 1, was built there in place of the farmhouse.
Culture
A Masopustní průvod carnival procession is part of Dolní Habartice’s recurring cultural programme and is scheduled for February. A Zahradní slavnost garden festival with dancing is also part of the recurring cultural programme; it is scheduled for August. Prohabacup is a competition for family teams, held in Dolní Habartice in July. A traditional kite-flying competition was also held at the sports field; Špekáčky sausages for roasting and lemonade were provided for children.
