Vlci Hora: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Vlčí Hora takes its name from a 581-metre-high, forested basalt hill that rises on the northern edge of the settlement of the same name. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads directly from Vlčí Hora to the summit with its lookout tower. A red-marked trail leads around Vlčí hora to the Verunčiny studánky springs, which lie about 400 metres below the summit.

Nature and trails

The Köglerova naučná stezka is a 23-kilometre circular trail starting in Krásná Lípa, which can be followed in either direction. Its 39 stops provide explanations in Czech and German about the respective locations. The route was opened in 1941 and reopened in reconstructed form in 2006.

History and cultural landscape

The lookout tower on Vlčí hora was ceremonially opened on 19 May 1889. The rural heritage zone of Dlouhý Důl comprises Dlouhý Důl, Kyjov, Sněžná and Vlčí Hora. Almost the entire built-up area forms a largely unaltered, cohesive ensemble consisting predominantly of timber-framed Upper Lusatian houses.

Festivals and garden

Since 2004, the Svatojánské slavnosti bylin have been held every year in the Český Švýcarsko landscape as a summer and midsummer festival in Vlčí Hora. The festival features workshops, music and food.

Below Vlčí hora, the garden of the Nobilis Tilia visitor centre is open year-round and offers insights into permaculture and biodynamics. The visitor centre also has a herbal tea room serving herbal teas, freshly ground coffee and organic treats from local suppliers.
