Těchlovice: Apartments and Holiday Homes
Těchlovice is located in the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area.
Landscape and Nature
At the Vrabinec site, the remains of an old castle can be found among several volcanic vents. The specially protected Vrabinec area encompasses heat-loving plant and animal communities on rocks, scree slopes and rubble forests around an exposed basalt volcanic neck with the remains of a medieval castle ruin.
Culture and History
The Church of St John the Baptist in Těchlovice, together with an enclosing wall with two gates and a mortuary, forms a complex. The Church of the Beheading of St John the Baptist is a single-nave building with an east-facing presbytery and a prismatic tower at the south-western corner of the nave. In the surrounding area, the Church of St John the Baptist is a prominent landmark.
The Těchlovice Treasure is estimated to be 4,000 years old and was discovered in 1881 during the construction of the railway station building. A burial site from the Lusatian culture was found in Přední Lhota on the slope leading to Vrabinec. The development of Těchlovice was linked to the heyday of steam navigation on the Elbe, the establishment of a shipyard, fruit exports and the construction of the Austrian Northwest Railway.
