Rybniště: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Rybniště lies in the Lužické hory Protected Landscape Area and reveals its character particularly through its ponds and the paths around them. Velký rybník covers 46 hectares and is the largest pond in the Děčín District. At the same time, it is a nature reserve with wetlands along its banks and protected plants. Školní rybník near Rybniště is one of the ponds in the Lužické hory Protected Landscape Area.

Nature

On the preserved dam of the former pond in the centre of Rybniště stand large lime trees and other mature deciduous trees. A path for cyclists and pedestrians runs along this dam. An educational trail connects the cemetery with the dam of Velký rybník. The 586-metre-high Široký vrch, also known as Karlova výšina, is located in the vicinity of Rybniště and features a viewpoint; from Rybniště, it can be reached via the red-marked trail.

Paths and activities

Important regional cycle routes pass through Rybniště and connect to cycle routes in the Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland region. Thanks to good train and bus connections, Rybniště is a starting point for trips to the neighbouring České Švýcarsko National Park and the Lužické hory. The town is also a railway junction on the Bakov–Rumburk and Děčín–Varnsdorf lines.

At Školní rybník, recreational fishing is possible every year from April to November after purchasing a fishing permit. Activities can be reserved at the multifunctional sports field in Rybniště. Náves Rybnišťského panáčka features an inline skating circuit that is also suitable for beginners.

In winter, cross-country ski trails are groomed in Rybniště when there is sufficient snow. These include several local routes and, where applicable, the Krásná Lípa circuits near Tůň or on Kamenná Horka.

Culture and townscape

The Three Kings Chapel in the Na sedle district dates from 1775 and stands near the European watershed. Traditional timber houses with half-timbered structures, built as single-storey and two-storey buildings, have also been preserved in Rybniště.

The Church of St Joseph in Rybniště is an Art Nouveau building designed by Antonín Möller from Varnsdorf and was constructed between 1909 and 1911. It is considered the youngest church in the region.

The third Rybnišťský masopust took place on 8 February 2025. The municipality describes it as a traditional festival and intends to continue preserving it.
