Ctiněves lies below the southeastern slopes of Říp. A red-marked hiking trail leading over the summit of Říp passes through the village.
Culture
At the geographical centre of Ctiněves is the Church of St. Matthew complex. The church dates back to the 13th century, has Romanesque origins and has been rebuilt several times. Historical tombstones have been preserved in the church, including the tombstone of Albrecht ze Zap, made of red marble and featuring a life-sized relief depicting a knight.
The first written mention of Ctiněves dates back to 1318. According to local legend, the forefather of Bohemia, Praotec Čech, is buried in the Church of St. Matthew.
Local life
Every year in Ctiněves, the village festival Posvícení takes place on the Sunday after the feast of Saint Matthew. Hostinec U praotce Čecha serves cold dishes and, to a limited extent, hot dishes as well.
The Podřipský rodinný minipivovar in Ctiněves brews top-fermented and bottom-fermented beers that are unfiltered and unpasteurised. The associated taproom has seating for up to 60 people. The beers bear the designation “ČESKÉ STŘEDOHOŘÍ Regionální produkt”.
