Dušníky: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Dušníky is home to a long barrow from the Funnel Beaker culture, dating from 3800 to 3500 BC. Its trapezoidal ground plan measures 86 × 16–26 metres. The 1.5-metre-high earthwork is still clearly visible in a ploughed field today.

History and local landmarks

The name Dušníky derives from the settlement’s origins on land endowed to the Church. When Doksany Monastery was founded in 1141, King Vladislav donated half of Dušníky to it, namely the lower estates. The first written reference to Dušníky dates from 1226.

A chapel in Dušníky was built in 1813. Its construction is connected with the period of the Napoleonic Wars from 1804 to 1813: a military hospital was established at the Novotný estate, and a cemetery was laid out on the adjoining plot. A sandstone wayside shrine with a metal cross dates from 1825. In addition, House No. 2 in Dušníky is listed as a protected heritage site.

The natural assets of Dušníky include a woodland complex west of the settlement. From Dušníky, there are views of the panorama of the České středohoří Mountains.
