Polepy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Polepy brings together nature and cultural attractions in a compact area, extending back into the history of the surrounding settlements. The municipality includes the Holý vrch Natura 2000 site. In the Skalky u Třebutiček protected area, semi-natural dry grasslands and scrub formations grow on calcareous substrates; there are also oak-hornbeam forests and thermophilous oak forests.

Culture and History

A prominent historic site is Encovany Castle. The four-winged arcaded castle combines Renaissance and Early Baroque forms. Inside, it retains cross and lunette vaults, beam ceilings, remnants of Renaissance wall paintings, fireplaces, and Renaissance or Neo-Renaissance portals.

Encovany’s religious architecture includes a wayside chapel, regarded as a highly authentic example of small-scale Early Classicist religious architecture in the Litoměřice area. It is located on a footpath connecting the main road through Dolní Encovany with the road to Polepy.

Prachová also preserves a historical connection: St. Wenceslas Chapel stands on the site of an older St. Nicholas Church, which belonged to the medieval village of Prachová. In 1835, an Empire-style church dedicated to St. Wenceslas was built for Hrušovany and Encovany at a new cemetery.

Practical Local Information

Polepy has a recently relocated charging station for e-bikes. It is equipped with a compressor for inflating bicycle tires and also allows mobile devices to be charged.

The “Polepy, Hrušovany” bus stop in Hrušovany is approximately 1 km from the ruins of St. Wenceslas Church.
