Višňové: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Višňové combines prominent viewpoints, religious heritage and regional culture. The Cesta spásy consists of ten stations featuring artefacts in the form of large stone blocks. Each station includes a description with the station number and name, a QR code with a legend, and the name of the donor.

Faith and history

The church of „kostel sv. Jana Křtitele“ contains eight Renaissance tombstones from the 16th and 17th centuries beneath the gallery. Local tradition also includes the annual Višňovská pouť ke svatému Janu Křtiteli, which brings together community, faith, music and traditions.

Music and technical heritage

Cimbalom music was played at the event „Dobré víno a krásná hudba“. Another reminder of the past is Višňové’s historic windmill: it is a turbine dating from 1910 that originally powered a drinking-water pump.

Landscape and views

There is a viewpoint on Stará hora north of Višňové. From there, the view extends east towards the Pálava Hills, south towards Austria, north towards the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant and west towards the villages located there.

The „Výlet na Starou horu“ excursion partly follows an asphalt road and partly a field track. In 2019, the Stará hora viewpoint was supplemented with a new viewing pavilion, a covered tourist rest area and an orientation map.

The U Třešní [Višňové] hill lies in the immediate vicinity of Višňové. The Rabštejn ruins, the Tempelštejn ruins, Příčník mountain and Václavský Kopec mountain are also located around Višňové. Further afield in the region are Leskoun mountain, Karlslust Castle and the Kaple sv. Petra a Pavla church.

A future near-natural landscape area with elements of a forest park and a viewpoint is planned for Stará hora.
