Horní Dunajovice: Holiday Apartments and Houses

A particularly distinctive feature of Horní Dunajovice is the Parish Church of the Most Holy Trinity: it was built in 1540, and its tower has the greatest deviation from the vertical per metre in the Czech Republic.

Culture and History

The former water fortress building Starý zámek in Horní Dunajovice was probably created in 1536 when Jindřich Březnický converted the earlier fortress into a Renaissance château; in the 19th century, it was converted into a granary. Due to its poor condition, it is currently not open to the public.

The pilgrimage site of Panna Maria Lurdská in Rybníky is also part of the cultural surroundings: two pilgrimages are currently held there each year, on the last Sunday in May and the first Sunday in September.

Nature and Water

The protected natural monument Pod Šibeničním kopcem covers 3.5292 hectares. In addition, there is the Horní Dunajovice Reservoir, covering an area of 28 hectares. Its beaches consist mostly of sand or sandy gravel; the reservoir is used for swimming.

Wine and Trails

The Znojemská Wine Trail passes through Horní Dunajovice. In the northern part of the village, several wine cellars have been dug into sand and soft loess. There are approximately twenty wine cellars in Horní Dunajovice, and the Otevřené sklepy event is a wine tasting held on the first Saturday in June.

The VINAŘ circuit is 6 km long and suitable for inline skating.
