Hrabětice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua gives Hrabětice a clear historical connection: it dates from 1863, and the path leading to it is lined with six statues of Franciscan saints from the late 18th century.

History

The first written record of Hrabětice appears in a feudal or urbarial tax record of Count von Hardegg from 1417. Its religious history also includes Hrabětická Kalvárie, a recently renovated former pilgrimage site set in the natural surroundings.

Culture

The Stations of the Cross on a hill on the outskirts of Hrabětice consist of 14 concrete pillars bearing images of the Stations of the Cross and a chapel. The elevated Stations of the Cross offer expansive views of the surrounding landscape, including neighbouring Austria and Galgenberg hill.

Nature

The protected natural area of Trávní Dvůr lies within the cadastral territory of Hrabětice. It is a site of European importance featuring mixed ash and alder floodplain forests as well as habitats for waterbirds, wetland birds, amphibians and insects. Trávní Dvůr also preserves an intact, multi-part remnant of the Dyje floodplain between Hevlín and Jevišovka, with oxbow lakes, small bodies of water, floodplain meadows and characteristic vegetation.

Festivals and Routes

Regional cycle paths and international cycling routes run through the countryside around Hrabětice. Krojované hody takes place every year in June around the feast day of Saint Anthony. Traditionally, it includes the handover of the festival rights, a procession of people in traditional costumes through the village and an evening of traditional entertainment. Babské hody is organised by local women and usually takes place on the first Saturday in September.
