Nature

Oleksovická mokřina is a protected natural monument covering 43.96 hectares. It comprises reed beds bordered along the edges by groups of alder and willow shrubs and trees, as well as suitable alluvial woodland in places; numerous protected and endangered animal species can be found there.

Oleksovické vřesoviště comprises heathland and sand pits where heather (Calluna vulgaris), grey hair-grass (Corynephorus canescens), sand martins (Riparia riparia) and European bee-eaters (Merops apiaster) occur.

Wine and Routes

Oleksovice has four vineyards named “Rusteny”, “Rajny”, “U lipky” and “U zámku”. The vineyards cover a total of 42 hectares and are predominantly planted with Müller-Thurgau.

Cyclists can reach Oleksovice via the Znojmo Wine Trail, which runs through Hostěradice, then along Road 397 and a further turn-off to Oleksovice.

Culture

The “Holy Trinity Group” is a remarkable Baroque work of sculpture and stone masonry dating from 1760 and forms part of Oleksovice’s historic cultural landscape. It is attributed to the workshop of Josef Winterhalder the Elder.
