Mašovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
At the Pšeničná archaeological site in Mašovice, a double rondel was discovered that is associated with the culture of Moravian Painted Ware. The Mašovice rondel is considered the first structure of its kind in Moravia and is among the largest in terms of area.
Culture and Architectural History
The parish church of St John the Baptist is one of the cultural monuments recorded in Mašovice. It has a Gothic core and was modified particularly in the 17th century, as well as in 1836 and 1853. Its interior is designed in the Baroque style.
In the vicinity of Mašovice lies Karlslust Castle. The shrines of Saint Hubertus, Lange Marter and Schönspiegelmarter are also located nearby.
Natural Environment
The Lom Mašovice quarry has been a protected area since 2013 and, as a site of European importance, is part of the Natura 2000 network. The cadastral area of Mašovice lies within the protection zone of Podyjí National Park. In the former Lom Mašovice quarry, the water is approximately 10 metres deep. Diving in the Lom Mašovice quarry is not regulated.
The mountains of Příčník, Binderberg, Schwalbenfelsen and Václavský Kopec are located in the vicinity of Mašovice.
Activities
The area around Mašovice is used for hiking and cycling in connection with Podyjí National Park. In winter, it is also visited by cross-country skiers from the wider surrounding area.
