In the centre of Vacenovice stands the old Habánský sklep, which probably dates back to the 16th century. It can be visited during the office hours of the Vacenovice municipal office by prior personal or telephone appointment. The cellar features an exhibition about Habaner ceramics, including original pieces and replicas, a model of a Habaner house, and Habaner kilns that have been discovered.

Culture and History

Since 2008, the Muzeum Vacenovice has collected, processed, and presented historical and ethnographic information and artefacts, which it also rescues and restores. The front living area, dating from 1904, is used as a museum and traditional farmhouse room. The former stables, added in 1946, were converted into a small hall for smaller exhibitions and lectures.

The local culture also includes Omladina in Vacenovice, an association of young people who regularly meet to practise dances and local customs. The association appears in traditional costumes at various celebrations.

Landscape

Vacenovice lies in a flat to gently hilly landscape on wind-blown sands; the surrounding area is predominantly characterised by pine forests. In the cadastral territory of Vacenovice u Kyjova, the Jezero nature monument protects wet to waterlogged meadows, a shallow body of water, and a willow-poplar grove.

Náklo Hill lies on the boundary of the municipalities of Vacenovice, Ratíškovice, Milotice, and Dubňany. A lily cross and seated statues of the merchant Sámo, Saints Cyril and Methodius, and Prince Rastislav stand there. The site offers views in all directions.

Trails and Meeting Places

From Vacenovice, Salaš Rúdník can be reached via a paved forest road and is suitable for a walk or a cycling stopover. At Rúdník, Habánský dvůr has established a natural area with a barn, stage, and sales cart offering refreshments during the warmer months.

Wine and Events

The Žlébky wine cellars comprise more than 20 cellars. They are used by local winemakers to process grapes and store wine. A well-maintained lawn in front of the cellars hosts cultural and social events organised in cooperation with the municipal administration and local winemakers.
