Strážovice is situated on the south-western slope of the 417-metre-high Babí lom hill, which is also the highest point of the Kyjovská pahorkatina. To the south of the village stretch rolling fields with isolated trees and copses; the landscape is compared to Tuscany.

Green- and yellow-marked hiking trails lead to the summit of Babí lom, which is 1.5 km from Strážovice. Cyclists can reach Babí lom via an asphalt road. Strážovice is also connected to the Kyjovská vinařská cyklostezka. Wine cellars known as “búdy” have survived to this day in the Lúčkách area of Strážovice.

Culture and history

The branch chapel of the Holy Trinity is a late Baroque building with a dynamically designed three-axis façade and valuable Baroque sculptural decoration. The original chapel was built from 1751 to 1753 and was expanded into a church in 1792. Opposite stands a small Baroque château from the first half of the 18th century.

The history of the painter Jan Köhler is also connected with the village: he lived in Strážovice from 1926 to 1941. His grave in the local cemetery is decorated with a Madonna mosaic that he created himself during his lifetime.

Festivals and traditions

The Krojované hody festival in Strážovice includes a procession in traditional costume, traditional songs and dancing. On Sunday, a mass is also held in the local chapel.
