History and technology

The Válcový mlýn roller mill in Skalice nad Svitavou dates in its present form from 1893.

The railway line from Brno to Česká Třebová, which passes through Skalice nad Svitavou, was built between 1843 and 1848. The railway line from Skalice nad Svitavou to Chornice was built in 1902. The water tower at Skalice nad Svitavou railway station was a necessary facility for operating steam locomotives. The existing water tower building at Skalice nad Svitavou railway station was built in 1912 and supplied with water from the Svitava via a settling well.

Cycle Route 5202 begins in Skalice nad Svitavou and connects to the start of Cycle Route 5143 at the train and bus station. After passing under the railway line, Cycle Route 5202 crosses the Svitava via a dedicated bridge.
