Rohatec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Strážnické Pomoraví Nature Park extends into the cadastral area of Rohatec. The Váté písky protected area comprises open grasslands on continental dunes with grasses of the Corynephorus and Agrostis genera, as well as Pannonian sand steppes of habitat types 2330 and 6260. As a national nature monument, it lies along the railway line between the Rohatec-Kolonie and Bzenec-Přívoz stations.

Culture and Traditions

The Church of St. Bartholomew in Rohatec was built according to a design by the Brno architect Vladimír Fischer: construction began on 11 September 1911, and the church was consecrated on 20 October 1912. Its furnishings include a Baroque altar dating from 1716.

The Chapel of St. Bartholomew on Slovácká Street preserves the surviving presbytery of a Gothic church from the 14th century. Its interior contains Baroque statues of St. John of Nepomuk and St. John Sarkander.

The local church in Rohatec houses richly embroidered chasubles, veils and antependia of particular artistic and ethnographic value. Rohatec’s documented folk-art tradition includes richly carved furniture with Moravian-Slovak ornaments. The town also maintains folk traditions with a children’s folklore ensemble, as well as a men’s choir and a mixed choir.

Water and Cycle Routes

The Vnorovy–Rohatec section of the Baťa Canal can be navigated by canoe, kayak or raft. A cycle path also runs along the Baťa Canal via Rohatec; it forms part of a route from Kroměříž to Skalica. Rohatec is also located on a route in the Moravské vinařské stezky network.

Transport

Bus route 911 connects Rohatec via several stops in the municipality with Hodonín and Veselí nad Moravou.
